Too hot to cook? What's for Dinner?

This is the hardest time of year to keep it real. We are expected to have a high of 101F today, again. The stove is off limits. No baking, no sautéing, no pots of boiling water. Uh-uh. I have a few pre-baked entrees and bread in the freezer. In the past week I confess to bringing home a pizza one day and deli meat on another. G-man and the Cadet picked at it. Aside from the occasional trip to the Chinese restaurant up the street, they only want homemade food. In a way it makes me proud. In a way I am flattered. I am also hot and cranky.

Anyone else with me? Let me help with recipe ideas that work with hot weather. Some are cooked on the grill, others in the crock pot, and a few are not cooked at all.

Grilling

Homemade Pita Bread (vegan)

Grilled Pizza

Grilled Falafel (gluten free, vegan)

Green Bean Fries

Fries on the Grill
Cheesy Mini Peppers (gluten free)
Whole Wheat Cornbread

  1. It is WAY to hot to cook! I wish that excuse worked better! lol! I enjoyed this post and salads are the prefect solution! in my humble opinion! Grilling would be nice but standing in the heat makes you feel like you're cooking yourself for dinner! haha... 1. Thanks for the invite! (You're right about the grill. On grilling days, I try to line up a bunch of stuff to eat for the next few days. Still.... this heat wave could end any time.)

Grilling and unfortunately, eating out way too much has not been good for any of his.
