Bad Blogger, Bad! (Greetings from Vacation)

Never underestimate the power of the beach. We are visiting my folks in Southern Ontario this week, and are a short drive from pebbles, sand, and boats.


Yesterday we took the kids to Southampton and I just sat there in the sand at the water's edge with the Cadet, waves washing our toes while we examined beach rocks. G-man and Stealthy Dad played in the sand and helped another family build sand castles. The kids had never been to a real beach before. They had also never dined on fish and chips at a picnic table or watched seagulls in action. We all got a healthy dose of hypnotic lake breezes and sunshine.

Grandma and Grandpa have a new kitten, a full pantry off goodies, a pool, and a green, green garden. Today we stayed around the house, and tomorrow we'll choose between the beaches of Kincardine or Port Elgin or a trip to Tobermory to watch sailboats and the ferry come in from Manitoulin Island. What an awful choice to have to make....

Blog, what blog? This is the first night in nearly a week I have found myself awake in the night. I am tired, but not in that stressed-out, edgy way. It's more like the peaceful exhaustion from a good workout. The kids and their father are sleeping so soundly that I checked them for breathing.

Ah, vacation.
